2022 Porsche Panamera vs. 2022 Lucid Air

The 2022 Porsche Panamera is a magnificent car with a lovely presentation, lighting acceleration, and host of amenities. But how does it stack up against the 2022 Lucid Air, an electric car with impressive looks, incredible performance and plenty of cargo space?

Design & Style

The Lucid Air has an aerodynamic exterior, 520 mile electric range with a cabin that is extravagant in all respects. A glass canopy is visible and it sits on twenty inch wheels, with authentic leather upholstery and navigation which is built into the dashboard. The seats in back are large and comfortable, and provide excellent back support even after sitting in them for hours. It can seat a maximum of five passengers.

The Porsche Panamera is a 4 door that is also capable of seating five. It can now be purchased in dark exterior trim, it sits on twenty one inch wheels and those that purchase the Platinum variant will get door sill protection made from aluminum. Android Auto has also been standardized, but buyers also have the option of Apple CarPlay. The cabin is luxurious, with seats that can massage the back and be adjusted eighteen different ways.

Technology & Safety

Porsche has always taken safety seriously, and in the Panamera this is evident by the inclusion of multiple airbags, automated emergency brakes, lane management, night vision and blind area monitoring.  Amenities within its cabin include twelve inch touch displays, wifi, climate control which covers four zones and eighteen cubic feet for cargo space.

The Lucid Air is equipped with many of the features found in the Panamera, including frontal impact alerts, blind area monitoring, and alerts for cross traffic in the rear and emergency automated brakes. The company is also working on level three self-operation which it claims will be available within a few years. The plan is to enable drivers to access it through wireless updates. Luxuries within its cabin include voice recognition, climate control, and premium audio.

Performance

Those that purchase the Lucid Dream Edition, which is limited, will be capable of generating an incredible 933 horsepower, which enables it to accelerate from zero to sixty in about 2.6 seconds. Though it uses standard steel coiled springs instead of air springs, those who have test driven it have reported smooth performance. Those that purchase the Porsche Panamera will get a V8, dual turbocharged engine that can generate 473 horsepower which enables it to accelerate from zero to sixty in 2.9 seconds.

The Bottom Line

Though the Lucid Air has lots of horsepower, its zero to sixty acceleration time is essentially tied with the Panamera, and this combined with the Lucid’s overly touch sensitive controls and unrefined brakes mean that the Porsche Panamera wins.
