2022 Porsche Panamera vs. 2022 Lamborghini Aventador

The 2022 Lamborghini Aventador is so rare that most people will never see one up close, let alone own it. Those that do will be mesmerized by its fabulous appearance and extraordinary V12 power. But is it good enough to beat the 2022 Porsche Panamera, another rare gem with an exquisite appearance, magnificent speed and the best tech money can buy?

Design & Style

The Porsche Panamera has it all. It can seat five which means you can take the kids to school and look good doing it, and then head over to the local race track to burn some rubber. It is also a hatchback which means there is plenty of space for luggage and groceries. While most super and hyper cars have to make tradeoffs for speed and performance, the Porsche Panamera can have its cake and eat it to.

A lot of exotic car manufacturers have transitioned to electric operation, but the Lamborghini Aventador sticks to good old fashioned fuel. Its external bodywork is heavily vented, while the interior is fully customizable. It only seats two passengers which means that unlike the Panamera there is minimal space for storage and you can forget about using it to drop the kids off at school.

Technology & Safety

Despite costing a half million dollars the Lamborghini Aventador is completely devoid of driver assistance gear which is found on cars 1/10 its price. It does have an infotainment system, but it’s dated compared to its competitors, with aging graphics and inadequate integration. Buyers will have Apple CarPlay, voice commands and a data recorder which can be used to record performance.

The Porsche Panamera is equipped with extensive driver assistance tech, including night vision, satellite mapped data, and emergency automated brakes, activated cruise control, and adapted lane control. Comforts within its cabin include voice commands, panoramic roof, Spotify, Android Auto wireless, powered leather seats that can be cooled or heated, and a Burmester audio system with twenty one speakers.

Performance

Those that buy the Porsche Panamera Turbo S will get a V8 engine that can generate 620 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in about 2.9 seconds. It has a maximum 196 mph top speed. The Lamborghini Aventador is powered by a V12 aspirated engine that is 6.5 liter and capable of generating 769 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in 2.7 seconds. It has a maximum 221 mph top speed.

The Bottom Line

The biggest problem with Lamborghini in general and the Aventador in particular is that it sacrifices everything for performance. While it has a top speed advantage, its zero to sixty acceleration time is tied with the Panamera, and when you consider its outdated infotainment, nonexistent safety features, annoying transmission and the fact it can only seat two passengers, it becomes clear that the Porsche Panamera is the better deal.
