2022 Porsche Cayenne vs. 2022 Jaguar F-Pace

Few sport utility vehicles can go toe to toe with the 2022 Porsche Cayenne. Its breathtaking appearance, majestic performance and array of automotive tech place it in a category of its own. But the 2022 Jaguar F-Pace has garnered acclaim for its sporty looks, impeccable craftsmanship and assortment of powertrain options. Does it have what it takes to unseat the Cayenne?

Design & Style

The Jaguar F-Pace is a muscular sport utility vehicle that can seat 5 passengers in comfort. Its alluring exterior is marked by slimmed down headlights, an extended and sculpted hood with crisp lines that extend from its pronounced rear. It comes with 3 engine choices and 3 variants, some of which utilize hybrid operation.

The Porsche Cayenne also seats 5. Its newest features for the year include the addition of Android Auto wired along with Apple CarPlay wireless. It has an elegant sloping roofline with a smooth and curvaceous exterior, and buyers get the option of turbocharged or dual turbo engines. The automatic eight speed transmission will transfer power to each of the 4 wheels, and a hybrid option is also available.

Technology & Safety

Each Porsche Cayenne comes with the auto industry’s most advanced features such as activated lane control, emergency automated brakes, a camera with surround view, parking sensors and blind area monitoring. Comforts within its cabin include twelve inch touch displays, navigation system, panoramic sunroof, multizone climate control and powered leather seats.

The Jaguar F-Pace is outfitted with the majority of the safety gear found in the Porsche, including airbags, automated high beams, parking sensors; emergency automated brakes, and adapted cruise control. Comforts within its cabin include a camera with surround view, eleven inch touch display, Meridian sound system, climate control, wooden trim and wireless charging for smartphones.

Performance

Those that want ultimate performance from the Jaguar will purchase the F-Pace SVR package, which comes with a V8, 5 liter engine that can generate 542 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in 3.8 seconds. The Jag can tow up to 5,291 pounds.  Those that purchase the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid will get an electrical motor which can generate the equivalent of 670 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in 3.6 seconds. It can tow 7,700 pounds.

The Bottom Line

While the Jaguar F-Pace is a respectable SUV, even its high performance SVR variant isn’t enough to beat the Porsche Cayenne. It also has a much lower towing capacity, making it less suited to hauling trailers and camping equipment. And when combined with its inefficient turbo 4, inefficient hybrid and firm handling, the Porsche Cayenne is simply the better vehicle.
