2021 Porsche Taycan vs. 2021 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

The 2021 Porsche Taycan is an extraordinarily vehicle that is electrically powered and capable of incredible speed with rapid charging. But how does it stack up against the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, a muscle car that has received acclaim for its rugged appearance and track level performance?

Design & Style

The Camaro ZL1 uses a rear drive and front engine structure that is common to cars of its class. It can be purchased in the form of a convertible or coupe, and utilizes a chassis which is impressive in both variants. The latest version comes with a new paint color (Wild Cherry), but the interior uses thickened roof pillars and windowsills which are high that can obstruct visibility.

The Porsche Taycan is notable for being the very first production electric vehicle that uses eight hundred volt architecture with a multiple speed transaxle. It can be purchased in the form of a sedan with four doors and there is also an all-wheel drive variant. Its exterior is smooth and sleek and unlike many super/hyper cars, which sacrifice seating capacity for performance, the Taycan does not as it can seat up to five passengers depending on configuration.

Technology & Safety

Each Porsche Taycan comes with the newest driver assistance gear, which includes things such as emergency automated brakes, lane departure notifications, frontal impact warnings, blind area monitoring, night vision and cruise control. Amenities within the cabin include a 17 inch gauge display, eight inch touch screens, powered leather seats that are ventilated and climate control.

The Camaro ZL1 has received a 4 star NHTSA safety rating. It too offers driver assist technology, but its limited in comparison to the Porsche, since those that purchase the convertible variant won’t have access to frontal impact warnings. It does have blind area monitoring, alerts for back cross traffic and parking sensors which are standardized.

Performance

The Camaro ZL1 is supercharged and one of the most powerful cars on the planet. It comes with a V8, 6.2 liter engine that is wedded to a six or ten speed transmission that can be manual or automatic which allow it to generate 650 horsepower and accelerate from zero to sixty in just 3.4 seconds. Those that purchase the Porsche Taycan Turbo S will get an engine that can generate 750 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in 2.4 seconds.

The Bottom Line

Although the Camaro ZL1 is extremely powerful, it doesn’t match the horsepower of the Taycan, its suspension is too stiff and the external visibility is obstructed, which makes the Taycan the winner.
