The 2021 Acura NSX is the type of car that many can only dream of owning. It is a technological marvel which checks all the marks for outstanding super car design. But how does it compare to the 2021 Porsche 911, a legendary car which has long dominated the market due to its superb performance, looks and almost infinite customization options?
Design & Style
For the most part, the latest 911 maintains the classic appearance that enthusiasts have come to expect, with a few slight changes. The fenders are now more spherical and the hips are wider. It has swanky LED lights with an adjustable spoiler that can be raised. The cockpit blends modern design touches with classic features. The dashboard is still horizontal, but now has 10.9 inch displays with lovely piano black colored trim and seats. The Acura NSX is as sharp as a sword. It has a wonderful mixture of straight edges and curves with a frame that screams power and speed. The roof is positioned low, like most sports cars, and the grille is blacked out with strip LEDs that complement it perfectly. The interior is as ritzy as you’d expect, with almost everything covered in leather.
Technology & Safety
The NSX hasn’t been crash tested and given its six figure price tag, it probably never will be. Despite this, it is well equipped with all the safety features you’d expect, including multiple airbags, a reinforced frame and state of the art brakes. However it lacks several features that are found in other cars such as blind area monitoring and cruise control. Luxuries within the cab include Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, seven inch touchscreens and ELS audio. The Porsche 911 has a host of safety features, including blind area monitoring, pedestrian detection, cameras with night vision and surround view and lane and cruise control. Luxuries within its cabin include the option of Burmester or Bose audio, heated seats that can be adjusted up to eighteen different ways and keyless start.
Those who purchase the Porsche 911 Turbo will get maximum performance, at 572 horsepower with 553 pounds of torque. This allows it to accelerate from zero to sixty in an incredible 2.7 seconds while reaching a top speed of 199 miles per hour. The Acura NSX answers with an engine that is capable of generating 573 horsepower with 476 pounds of torque, which enables it to go from zero to sixty in just 3 seconds with a top speed of 191 miles per hour.
The Bottom Line
Although the NSX and Porsche 911 are nearly tied when it comes to performance, the 911 has an overwhelming safety advantage, with many features that the Acura lacks, such as emergency automatic brakes, cameras and blind area monitoring, so the Porsche is our winner.
