2021 Porsche 718 Boxster vs. 2021 Infiniti Q50

The 2021 Infiniti Q50 is a top tier vehicle with a smooth and efficient V6, superb outward vision and lovely bodywork. But is all this enough to beat the 2021 Porsche 718 Boxster, a car which has received praise for its crisp operation, excellent powertrains and comfortable cabin?

Design & Style

The Porsche 718 offers two transmission choices, which are an automatic seven speed or a manual six speed. The exterior is sleek and aerodynamically designed in a manner that will allow it to blast through the wind like a bullet. Passengers within the cabin will be treated to mirrors that dim automatically along with windshield wipers that can detect rain and seats which can be heated or cooled depending on the temperatures or season.

The Infiniti Q50 is a sporty automobile that is distinctive for its sophisticated demeanor. It too provides excellent outward vision with sexy exterior curves and plenty of space for the legs and cargo. The engineers have added a new feature called Sensory which incorporates nineteen inch wheels with supple leather surfaces and high fidelity audio that is provided courtesy of a Bose sound system with sixteen speakers.

Technology & Safety

The Infiniti Q50 offers a number of safety countermeasures, which include the ability to monitor blind spots, notifications for cross traffic in the rear, automated emergency brakes, frontal impact warnings and lane management. Luxuries within its cabin are extensive and consist of climate control which covers multiple zones, powered seats, and a steering wheel that can be heated.

The Porsche 718 Boxster is equipped with all the safety functions found in the Q50, including parking sensors, a backup camera, automated emergency brakes and blind area monitoring. Luxuries within its cabin include Wi-Fi, a navigation system, CD player (for drivers still listening to CDs) and adaptive dampers.

Performance

Those that want top level performance can choose the Porsche 718 Boxster GTS, which has a four liter engine that can generate 394 horsepower which enables it to accelerate from zero to sixty in 4.3 seconds. Those that purchase the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport will get a V6, 3 liter engine that can generate 400 horsepower which enables it to accelerate from zero to sixty in just 4.5 seconds.

The Bottom Line

While both of these cars are practically tied when it comes to horsepower and acceleration time, the dual screen infotainment system used by the Infiniti Q50 is not very intuitive, and this combined with its lackluster cubby and cargo space make the Porsche 718 Boxster the winner.
