Design & Style

Both cars have an exterior which is similar, yet different from their predecessors. The Ferrari does weigh a bit less however, at 3,252 pounds versus only 3,263 pounds for the Porsche 911 Carrera.  Both vehicles offer stability as well as traction control, with the Porsche utilizing a Macpherson strut which is independent for its front suspension while the Ferrari uses a double wishbone independent suspension.

The Bottom Line

Although the 2018 Ferrari 488 GTB substantially outperforms the Porsche 911 Carrera 4, it comes with a much higher price tag, one that is almost three times the cost. While the Porsche can be purchased for about $110,000, the Ferrari costs a spectacular $300,000, over a quarter of a million dollars. Despite this, it did not win the Best Sports Car Award for over $100,000 in 2018 (that reward went to the Porsche 911), and this is because the Porsche offers the best mixture of performance, price and seating capacity. The Ferrari 488 is clearly designed with racing competition in mind, but how many will actually use it in that capacity? Therefore, the Porsche is the better, more affordable deal.
